Request info on why the Seneca 1 has a crosswind limit of 13 knots and that of the Seneca 2 is 17 knots. The aircraft look identical.

It might be to do with the rudder-aileron interconnection that the Seneca I has - later models do not have this.

Seneca II onwards also have larger ailerons than the Seneca I.

This is not exactly on topic but to share an embarassing experience... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" /> . .. .The prop on a Seneca is a bit outboard of the main landing gear and the clearance between the prop-blades and the ground is quite small. If you bank into a cross wind and touch down hard enough for the oleo on the upwind main gear to compress completely, the prop will strike the runway.. .. .I found this out the expensive way.. .. .I don't think this has anything to do with the published max demonstrated crosswind but it is worth keeping in mind in a gusty crosswind.

The maximum demonstated crosswind component is purely a structural limit, the manufacturer guarantees that the landing gear will stay on if the pilot makes a no-drift corrected landing at the stated crosswind speed.. .. .No aerodynamic limit at all.
