Forgive my ignorance here but did Luton Airport ever get around to building those much needed parallel taxiways? Back tracking all the time must be a real pain in the back side as well as being highly inefficient!

Yes and No.
The taxiway was extended to the East and a new access put in but they did not take it all the way to the end turning circle.
At the western end, there is very little space to extend and I suspect that it will not be possible. The car park is alredy overcrowded and taking another 10m or so off it to add to the exisiting space would not be popular!

The reason for not extending the parallel taxiway to the end of RWY 26 is (I've been told anyway) that the area is in another district/county and planning permission was not granted!
