Hopefully this is the right place to pose the following...

One of my many jobs which will ultimately finance my ATPL is in a call centre.

When taking peoples details, I ask what their title is(Mr, Mrs, Ms...etc). Just curious on how many Left-Hand-seaters call themselves Captain in their everyday correspondences.

Cheers

Not many here in the US.
Even at work most guys are on a first name basis.
Only exception perhaps is when ya call up crew schedule, tell 'em ya are captain Smith so they can look in the right list or whatever.

Perhaps titles are more important in the UK?
Sir this, Lady that. Sounds a bit too snobbish....

Sgt. Pilot Ginger Lacey, who shot down more enemy a/c than any other pilot during the Battle of Britain, would neither have been saluted nor referred to as "Sir" - unlike any officer scarcely fit to fly in formation with him!

For a' that and 'a that,
Their tinsel show and a' that,
The man o' independent mind,
He looks, and laughs at a' that.

- Robert Burns "A Man's a Man"

"Ginger" retired as a Squadron Leader. He was promoted from Flight Leuitenant the week before he retired, so he would get a F/L pension, rather than a Flying Officers.
I used to salute him, but then he was my section commander :D
