Dublin Airport Runway 10 Taxiway - How near?

For those of you who know The 10 taxiway, as you are sitting in the cockpit and taxing down to 10 about 1/3 of the way down there is a road on the right hand side as you look out the cockpit that runs parallel to the taxiway. It is VERY close to the aircrafts passing by. How close would the wings of an A330 or B7474 be to the fence does anyone know and also is there anywhere else in the world where absevers can get so close to the passing planes?. .Have people had any problems regarding people throwing things at the aircrafts as they pass by? I mean the planes are so close to the road it is amazing.

Another thing. As you are sitting in the cockpit and ‘taxing’ from 28, that very same road appears on the port side as you look out the cockpit <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

I’m not one to praise airport security at DUB, but the road which runs parallel to the north of the 10/28 taxiways is well patrolled, inside and outside the perimeter day and night. Yes, aircraft are pretty close to the public road but the fence is quite high, which means you’d need the strength of Odysseus to throw anything which would reach and damage an aircraft.

Unless, of course, you’re one of the reggie spotters who hang around that part of DUB and stand on their cars to catch a glimpse over the fence of passing aircraft, but I doubt if their wet ham sambos would cause significant grief. Now if someone were to use a catapult...

BTW, ‘those who know the 10 taxiway’ refer to it as the Bravos.

People will continue to assume that you are either angry or a prat, if you:

1) have a profile that includes an obscenity. .2) use 'graemlins' inappropriately.

A tip - the 'graemlins' are designed to give a reader some idea of the emotion behind the post. If you are joking, try <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> , :) , or even <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">

Using <img src="mad.gif" border="0"> (NOTE: the greaimlin is called 'mad') will tell the reader that you are angry. They are designed this way to clarify your intent, for example when the literal and intended meaning of your post are different.

A helpful hint: In the spoken word, one can use expressions such as "F*%$ off", and by the tone of one's voice, convey the intended meaning, which can vary from anger to a friendly jibe.

In the written word, this is much harder, and thus the invention of 'graemlins' or emoticons (emotion icons). Use of <img src="mad.gif" border="0"> is intended to convey to the reader that you are serious about what you are saying. If you are being 'sarcastic', then use the appropriate 'graemlin'.

This is not the first time I have noticed one of your posts causing offence when - it now appears - none was intended.

To put it simply - learn the protocols. You will get your message across without causing offence.
