What do UK(EU)and USA JAA based flight schools expect from FI(R)? . .I am taking the cheaper route of:. .PPL. .IMC . .NIGHT. .COMMERCIAL. .FI(R). .Skipping out on Multi and IR until later.Does anyone know what my chances will be of getting FI(R) employment? would I be much better off if I got my IR and multi engine ratings first? etc etc... any feedback would be appreciated.

Well you can't do it that way it would have to be

1.PPL. .2.IMC. .3.NIGHT (Although not really nessarcy becuase they will do that with you when you do the FI RATING. .4. ATPL/CPL ground school. .5. CPL flight test. .6. FI rating

If you train to do these above at ONE school its very likely that they will empoly you onced you have finished.

your FI will be restricted until 500 hrs are complete, after that you will be able to sign of "pre-soloers" and also complete the instument part of the PPL course as you wont be able to do these until you have the restriction removed.

Hope this helps

Going this route and not doing your multi/IR rating will actually enhance your prospect of FI(R)employment, as you wont clear off short notice, also to remove your restriction you only have to complete 100 hours instructing and supervise 25 flights, any school in the UK is looking for professionalism and reliable timekeeping as well as a flair for working with people, they automatically expect you to be able to fly to a good standard. The best time for employment is March/April.

You sure it's 500 hours experience before becoming unrestricted? I've heard lots of people telling me its 100 hours

To remove the restriction on the FI rating you will need to complete 100 hours of flight instruction and supervise 25 solo flights.

You can find the regulations at http://www.jaa.nl/jar/jar/jar-fcl-1.pdf. .You will find the information on page 106 at the bottom.

I seem to remember 500hrs being mentioned somewhere but you have no need to worry I think it was somthing to do with the CPL. Probably one of the CAA regulations not JAA.

Hope this helps!!

Something I missed was that before commencing training for the FI (R) course you will need to have 200hrs TT, plus 100 PIC if holder of ATPL/CPL or 150 if a holder of PPL(A).
