What a concept. That is a good business idea.

Why?

Why is it a good business idea? Do we have a shortage of pilots? Why is it a good idea to reduce the tax status of flying training? Do we have a shortage of students who cannot fund the training themselves?

Thought not.

Cheers

VAT in UK just went up by a whopping 2.5% in the last few weeks. So flight training just went up 2.5%. Don,t know if there is a shortage of commercial pilots, but I,m on the private flying thread.

Fuel & tax's levied upon new entrants appear's to indicate that the the country is not serious about industrial expansion. The economic numbers verify a fundamental problem with the intellect. Uk's is on par with Spain,Portugal,Greece and Ireland. It cost's a minimum $100,000 for a basic 200hr Commercial license in the country I understand.

Very Poor.

A good idea indeed, however a number of points stand against it.

1) Previous Government spent too much money - present Government obsessed with cutting debt as fast as possible without hurting its rich friends, so the rest of us (i.e. the minions, the hoi polloi) have to pay more for everything to fix their problem. In other words,
bend over and cough up. Remember that "We're all in this together" as some Tory smarmaduke oft repeated post-election. Or not as it may seem judging by recent events. :ouch:

2) UK Government seems complacent in keeping the price of everything as high as possible. In other words, bend over, here it comes again. :ouch:

3) UK Government is apathetic, nay spiteful, towards the aviation industry, so expect no remorse with anything, especially with regards to help with cost. Bend over once more for yet another shafting. :ouch:

4) UK Government obsessed with "Climate Change" and sees aviation as The Great Satan. Prepare for a serious sodomising by Her Majesty's Government. :ouch:

5) UK Public apathetic towards aviation - "too noisy", "rich man's hobby" etc.. Any inch of mercy, however unlikely, given by the Govt. to the industry would instantly be drowned in cries of "Quango!", "Subsidy-Junkies!", "Waste Of Taxpayers' Money!" etc. by Red Tops, Fleet Street Tory Rags, the TaxPayers' Alliance, Green Fascists and others. Also see points 3) & 4).

In short it won't happen. Give up. The rest of us already have.
