TAFs and wind - not much good today!

Great TAF for Prestwick today:

They've obvoiusly taken a lot of trouble to get the wind accurate.

14 gusting 25, 16 gusting 27, 25 gusting 35, 23 gusting 35 (don't want to mix up a 25G35 with a 23G35, do we!).

Only problem, at 9am it is flat calm! (and looks pretty calm all the way to the far north of Scotland - where one might expect a 320 degree wind to come from.

You gotta feel for the boys and girls trying to predict things when these lows are bumbling around. Still, it wouldn't be a bad wind forecast for Machrihanish - only 37nm away - this morning , other than the direction.

Sitting here at work in east central Scotland it's calm on the ground but the clouds are fair "scudding" by.
Substantial temperature inversion. +2 on the high bit(500ft) coming to work, -1 in town.
