I am traveling with my family on the above route in March. The flights are operated using a 777 Aircraft, Can anybody tell me why the outgoing sector is schedualed for 10 hours and the inbound for 8.15?

Also as my wife is apprenshive of flying, can anybody tell me if the 777 is a good aircraft to fly on?

Thanks in advance

Prevailing winds will explain the time difference.
As for your wife, tell her that everything will be OK as long as the pilot stays between the red and green lights. My dad used that on my gran once, and her nerves disappeared!!!

Did those flights a couple of years and very nice too. The 777 really is a lovely aircraft to fly in.

Only comment I will have is that the seating was 3-4-3 instead of the standard 3-3-3 which obviously means the seats are narrower.

BA have 3 777's with the 3-4-3 configuration. At the time I flew, BA used these 777's on routes to TPA and the Caribbean. Though I'm not sure if this is still the case now.

BA Gatwick flights in the BA4000-4999 range are the ones flown by the infamous 3-4-3 seated B777's. I thought there were 4 of them, G-VIIN/O/P/R. They also use these on the Montego Bay/Kingston run and are very space restricted for such long flights.

Hi All,
I just operated one of these Tampa's this past weekend. Only 3 of the a/c are 3-4-3 ie VIIO VIIP VIIR. They are flown by regular BA pilots and there is no cause for concern as regards safety.
