Hi all.

I'm just wondering, do crews ever perform flapless landings on regular line flights for practice purposes (ie not where there's any sort of flap failure, just for practice?).

I've seen photos taken of landing 777s and 330s where they seem to be flapless. Would this ever be done on a line flight?

No, never.

Either way take off or landing surely some flaps/slats would be used on a jet transport, except maybe the A-300 with the leading edge flaps/slats out, someone please correct me as I am generally uninformed.....

I once had to do a mere Flaps 20 landing on the 757 due to hydraulic failure, the Vref was 162 kts.

God forbid what a flapless landing speed would be like.

Never! Unless your flaps were stuck up. I would be jettisoning fuel to get the landing weight down to a minimum.

Vref30 for a B777-300ER at medium weight is around 150kts. If you flew the recommended speed Vref30 + 80kts your approach speed would be 230kts.

There is no procedure for the 777 for a flapless landing.

Ok, well that makes sense. I was on final approach the other day and heard an A319 ahead calling saying it was coming in flapless...that also made me think of raising this question.
