Anyone got a minute to point me in the direction of a site that will reveal to me the mystery of airline and airport call signs? Then I might be able to understand what and where you're all talking about on 'Rumours and News'. Thanks

Airports have callsigns?
'Midland 5XF you're cleared direct to Dave' - 'Negative we'd like to divert to Fred'

Or do you mean (as I now suspect) the ICAO/IATA codes like LHR/EGLL and AMS/EHAM etc? I'm sure there has been some feedback on that subject on PPrune recently - try a search. Sorry I can't be of more help (or less sarcasm)!

As for Airline callsigns, try these:

Speedbird/Shuttle - BA
Midland - BM
Kestrel - Airtours
Jetset - Air 2000
Easy - Easyjet
Shamrock - Aer Lingus
Flyer - Cityflyer
British - BRAL
Gofly - Go
Scandiavian - SAS

Others are pretty obvious: American/United/Qantas/KLM/Lufthansa/Brymon/
etc. etc.

And then we start doing codeshares/charters....

About the airportcodes try this:

http://www.ar-group.com/icaoiata.htm

I don't know where you'll find airline codes on the net, but try the index of any airlines timetable, they usually have the majors covered

However a lot of other abbreviations are used, just ask away
