is there any terminology to describe a situation where a pilot much junior in experience to the other pilot doesn't point out / correct errors made by the senior (critical errors too) cause he thinks "ya well, maybe he knows what he's doing" ?????

Steep cockpit authority gradient and lack of assertiveness (see WAP101's post) come to my mind.

kaytee - part of the problem will be that a 'junior' and inexperienced P2 may not be able to assess whether or not what he/she sees is an 'error' due to lack of experience. In this situation, if 'uncomfortable', the system should encourage 'advocacy' and if still uneasy, action. Easier said than done!

Many years ago I flew P2 (737) into Funchal with one of those 'expert' Captains who called 'Gear down, Flap 40' at 210 kts downwind. I challenged and he said - "try it and just watch the speeds". I agreed. It worked perfectly. Yes, non-standard, but the system worked.

' Captain, I think we are going to hit that mountain..but not really sure, and since I am on probation, and just paid $50,000 to sit here, I don't want to make you mad and get fired, but I really think there is a mountain up ahead '

What's that called? A preposterous situation.
