Just wondering if SkyRegional has started their hiring process? If not at what stage is their development?

They now have airplanes and I hear ground schools have commenced.

IN-CHARGE FLIGHT ATTENDANT / FLIGHT ATTENDANT
SKY REGIONAL AIRLINES
Montreal, QC, CANADA; Toronto Island, ON, CANADA
Posted Nov 1, 2010
30 Position(s)

IN-CHARGE FLIGHT ATTENDANT
FLIGHT ATTENDANT
As a new regional carrier we are building a strong and solid foundation for future success. We need people who are flexible, able to think quickly on their feet and unafraid to act upon decisions made. People who are customer focused, warm and thoughtful and always professional. It takes a lot of initiative and stamina to get a new business 'off the ground'. Our people will understand what that means and will always meet the inherent challenges with unwavering enthusiasm.

If this sounds like a Company you want to be committed to, we want to hear from you. Our Cabin Crew must be safety conscious, able to obtain a Transport Canada Security Clearance Pass and be in possession of a valid Canadian passport. In addition, we will require our Flight Attendants to be 19 years of age or older and have graduated from High School or the equivalent. Those who are completely fluent in French and English will be given priority as their ability to communicate in both official languages is of benefit to our passengers. Our In-Charge Flight Attendant positions will be filled with individuals who have proven airline experience (a minimum of two years) with the confidence to lead by example.

If the above describes you as the professional, well groomed individual you are, then we want to hear from you. Please send your resume and cover letter to: [email protected] or by fax to 905-678-5719. Indicate which of our two bases you would prefer to work at: Toronto (from the City Centre Island Airport) or Montreal (from Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport) and the position you would like to be considered for.

We sincerely thank all who apply, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted

Don't get too horny about this airline.

they'll be gone in about 13 months.

exactly 1 month after Porter closes the doors!

that's all it's being started for. If AC could put a 319 all business class like the Jetz airplane out of the Island..it would be even sooner than that.

I booked AC YYZ-YUL. With tax...$562.99. Westjet was $572 and Porter was $585.

So much for the one way $79 fares.

AC has deeper pockets. It will be a blood bath. Hopefully short lived.

And Deluce will start yet another airline in a year...maybe to compete with Jazz on Thoas Cook flying.

bunkhog, I'll add some inside info to your arguement. Last year was the first time EVER that the Toronto Port Authority (who runs the island airport) was profitable. This is because in 2006 when Air Canada last operated out of the island, the annual number of passengers was 26,000. In 2009, it was close to 1M, and this year it should be somewhere around 1.6M.

Now, the Port Authority realize that Air Canada is coming to the island for the sole purpose of eliminating Porter. However, Porter makes the Port Authority a lot of money, and the Port Authority has invested a lot of cash in two new ferries and passenger transfer facility. So in an effort to seem not seem monopolistic, the Port Authority has granted 40 slots to Air Canada, but on the condition that they negotiate space in Porter's check-in counter, baggage belt, business lounge, gates, etc. Oh, and Porter owns the fuel farm, fuel trucks, de-ice truck and hangars.

The game is stacked in Porter's favor because the Port Authority will be out a TON of money if Porter fails. SkyRegional is only doing 20 departures to Montreal and thats it. No more slots. In the short run, Porter will loose some passengers, but they will gain fixed revenue from servicing Air Canada, and will get exposure to Air Canada passengers that haven't yet tried flying out of the island. At least some of those will want the same convenience when they need to go to the other 11 destinations Porter serves.

We'll see how long it takes Air Canada to realize that the Island Airport experiment is not winable. Rumor has it that the SkyRegional contract is for 5 years but renewable every 6 months.

I believe that the primary reason for the creation of SkyRegional was for AC to hold a better hand in negotiating a better CPA with JAZZ and an ancillary benefit would be to pressure Porter. It will take years for SkyRegional to grow into something that AC can whipsaw against Jazz. So expect to see SkyRegional around and grow for the foreseeable future.
