Depends for what you will need the bird, also which size....
Training? Passengers? Freight? Duration? Schedule? Dry / Wet?

Don't want to give too much away but it passengers (up to 200), week to ten days away in the Canaries some time next year.

For up to 200 you will need a -900, not many available, if at all, the ones in Europe are busy during the summer season.
Week to ten days....you mean the aircraft will be parked there for this period? Never!

Nightrider, yes I realise that but thanks

I think Nightrider's point, and forgive me if it's teaching Granny to suck eggs, is that you'll end up paying for the 2 empty legs, thus taking the return price per seat to a very high value.

If you can fill the empty legs with people living in your destination who miraculously want to do the exact opposite of what your people want to do, on almost exactly the same dates, you have solved a problem that has confronted the industry for decades.

Not forgetting regulations about being a travel organiser.

I wish I had a tenner for every quotation made to a group or entrepreneur who thought they could save/make money by chartering an aeroplane.

Capot, thank you for your comments and yes I already appreciate the implications of empty legs.

I wish I had a tenner for every quotation made to a group or entrepreneur who thought they could save/make money by chartering an aeroplane.

The objective in this case is not to save money rather than have an exclusive service.

Does it have to be a 737.....?

Not at all, but it also depends on numbers - the sector length is such that we'd want a Boeing/Airbus type a/c.

There might be some VP or P4 registered 727's out there owned by Saudis that the principal may "charter" out during their down time...

I know when I flew one 14 yrs ago for 4.5 yrs (right up to 9/11) the sheikh would let his plane be chartered out...VIP worldwide...

One trip we did was to pick up a Russian Duma Member in Moscow, fly him to Nome and Anchorage...stoping along the way at places in Siberia that no American has ever seen before, for example...

Try the Mid-East forum and ask your question there...Good Luck...

Don't want to give too much away but it passengers (up to 200), week to ten days away in the Canaries some time next year.

It would be worth contacting a carrier with scheduled service to the Canaries (Aer Lingus, Jet2, etc.) who could potentially put the return leg on sale as a scheduled service and thereby offset a bit of the cost.

But rather than contacting all the airlines individually, I'd say you're better off talking to a charter broker who'll be able to advise what's available (as well as knowing the regulations) and save a lot of your time. There are a few well known ones - PM me if you want a recommendation.
