ON ITV TEXT P332 IS DETAILS OF A NEW AIRLINE
CALLED EXCEL AIRWAYS OPERATING B737'S FROM MAN AND 5 OTHER REGIONALS. ANYONE KNOW THE SP?

Excel also have permission from the DETR to operate three B767 s wet leased from Air Atlanta ( Iceland) for the summer season.

Two Excel Airways is going to get a tad confusing. Especially when the Dutch Excel has the "Excel" callsign. (?)

I noticed in Flight last week that KLM Exel are flogging off the four Brasilias which they use for commuter services from Holland to STN.

Does this mean they are dropping the routes or simply upgrading to commuter jets or bigger turboprops?

Air Exel (KLM-Exel) are replacing their Brazilias with more ATRs. Two of their three ERJ-145s operate from Maastricht to Milan and Munich. The third had been operating on the Berlin route but this was suspended last week due to poor loads. This a/c was rolled out of GPA's hangar at MST this morning in full Air Moldova livery. They have two more 145's to come and a further three on option.

Excel's callsign will be "Expo" but doubtless they'll be lots of confusion!

Well, I'd simply love to see KLM-Exel fill ATRs on the STN - Maastricht route. I did that a couple of years back and there were 11 pax on the way out and 9 on the way back and that was over a weekend as well. Don't they (or at least did they use to) use ATR-42s on services to Amsterdam?

The STN loads vary quite a lot but in general they are quite good. If you flew STN-MST-STN at a weekend you will have travelled on the back side of full flights. The MST-STN saturday is generally full as is the STN-MST sunday. Personally I think they need to put their ERJ (EMB-145) on the route. Yes, they do still operate the ATR 42 on MST-AMS-MST.

Interesting website... just a few thoughts...

Anyone else ever seen an airline that details how you fly dead bodies?

Or allows diabled people to sit in window seats in exit rows?

Actually I think you'll find that unless the CAA had approved the seating requirements they would not be allowed. FYI the B737-800 Row 1 leftside and Row 2 right has a bulkhead in front of it and that is the reason why disabled people can be sat there by the windows. There are only restrictions placed on the aisle seats at 1C/2C/2D which is logical.

The B767-200 is governed by Icelandic CAA rules and therefore again Row 1 behind a bulkhead right across the aircraft presents no problems, and indeed Britannia also did not place restrictions on special needs customers using these seats - obviously ok'd by the British CAA.
I think the website is probably one of the better ones. I guess the reason for details of transporting human remains is because within EU countries seats (obviously for anyone travelling in the cabin with their deceased in the cargo hold) can be sold from overseas agents. Unfortunately it sometimes happens that fatalities occur overseas so I guess that is why they have included the info.

Thanks for the reply - I had forgotten the bulkheads!! (It was the 763 drawing that made my wonder, and you'd be right, there would be some sort of divider there....)

The point about bodies I accept - but.... all the airlines offer this, what amazed me was the fact that they were advertising it - no mention on BA's, BD', AF's, SN's etc etc websites.
