I know that in the UK the CAA has documents on airfield operations (licenced and unlicenced) which identifies the safety issues about obstacle clearance limits, etc. I wondered if anyone has empirical research or case studies on the impact in terms of turbulence, curlover effect, etc. when the runway is downwind of a large building?

...or just take a flight into LCY on a windy day, especially with a wind direction of 250˚ or so on the ground. There is an extra SOP call added at 1,500' (in the the style of a Cowboy) - "Yee-harrrr!"
