Hi all,
In the Delta CRJ900 thread in R&N the brace position has been briefly discussed. Clearly some research has shown that this is the safest position to adopt in the event that large accel / decel forces could be exerted on the body whilst strapped into the passenger seats.
My (possibly silly) question is this: As I am 6ft 2 and a half, I can't get anywhere near the brace position in the seat of a CRJ900 (or any other economy class seats that I have flown in for that matter). Are the risks not greater for me having my neck bent over trying to get my upper body horizontal behind the chair in front?
I'm not the tallest bloke in the world, but /if/ the aircraft were to decelerate suddenly, then I'm fairly sure I would sustain injuries to my knees / legs as they are always touching the metal supports of the chair in front. If I was in the brace position, then I'm fairly sure I would sustain back/neck injuries also...
Rather than whinging about the lack of space from a comfort point of view in some economy class seating, is there not a safety issue also?
