Atpl skill test combined with Type rating initial test

Hi to you all.
I don't know if this forum it is the more appropriate but I hope someone can help me out.
I am a military pilot but I fly a civilian type aircraft.
I would like to take the ATPL skill test and I need to know if it's possible to combine it with the initial type rating of the aircraft I fly.
I've been looking over google and Jar Fcl but couldn't find anything.
I know it's quite unusual this kind of situation because most of the people get a type rating first but if anyone could give me an head up I wil appreciate it.

Hey,

I did what you're trying to do back in 07. I had an FAA ATP and my frozen JAA ATPL.

I completed a 737 typerating and did the skilltest and conversion on the same ride. Had to be done leftseat (ATPL level).

This was through the Norwegian CAA and I would recommend you check with the proper authorities and check with them (get it in writing).

Yes it can be done. I got mine during a conversion onto a new type having flown another civvy type before. When it comes to the application for the ATPL you can't submit it until until you've done your base training, be it on the plane or in the sim. The CAA won't accept an application for an ATPL even though you've passed their skills test until you're actually rated on the type which you sat the test on. Cost me 10 days upgrade pay :(

I had this situation in May this year whilst completing the second type rating on my licence.

I asked the examiner before the skills test if he would tick the box for ATPL issue on the examination form, provided I met the standard. He was very helpful and said that of course he had no problem with it, but he needed approval from my company. A quick chat with the simulator centre chief confirmed that if I had made this situation clear on the first day of the training, or as early in the type training as possible, they would've been able to put the wheels in motion on getting that approval. A bit litigious but I understand my springing it on them so late on in the training probably wasn't the best way to do it.

As far as I understand it, the JAA skills test contains all the required elements as that required for the ATPL issue test so it really should only be a tick in the box.

As the other guys said, it shouldn't be a problem at all. I did my second type rating a couple of months ago and talked to the instructor about this before. He said that the only thing you have to do which isn't mandatory is a raw data ILS approach. But that you'll definitly do anyway so it should just be a tick on a paper. The easiest thing is probably just to contact your CAA or the TRTO and ask them as FSJ said, they should be able to answer all of your questions.

I will definitely get in contact with my "CAA" before book a sim for this "double test" but before write to the authority I was trying to get some written JAA papers that states that is possible before start any kind of argument with them.
Only thing found it over internet so far is the application for the ATPL skill of the Switzerland Aviation authority where it is clearly stated that it's possible.

Hi Guys,it's me again!
I am writing on this post again just to tell you that my CAA accepted my request.
The only thing is that the TRE who is going to check me asked me how many hours has to last the sim check because He is not sure (he suggested to ask to the CAA but in Italy you usually don't get answer in a short period of time, in particular the writtens one.).
I will be more precise regarding my situation as follows:
I have to take the ATPL and the Type rating sim check and the other pilot that comes with me he has to do the ATPL test as well, plus he has to do is LPC (he's already type rated).
Now I think that the sim check should last anyway 4 hours total for my colleague and I (2 hours PF and 2 hours PNF).
Anyone who can confirm that?

Just a quick question, I am 50hrs short for my ATPL hours and have an LPC next week, does anyone know if the skill test can be done early and then submitted in a month when I have the hours?
