Xwind (http://www.xwindsim.com) is offering simulated crosswind training.

Does anybody have any experience? Unfortunately only one simulator is available in Europe, near Hamburg.

I've never seen one, but have to ask...why not simply go train in a real crosswind?

From their site:

Crosswinds are the #1 cause of weather related accidents every year!

Very bold claim. I thought that continued flight into deteriorating weather conditions, eventually leading to CFIT or loss of control, was the #1 cause.

The reasons I can think of:

1. Flying in Europe is expensive. Train in real life is therefore more expensive than doing a training in a simulator.
2. Cross wind is not always available ;)
3. It helps you to get more experience on cross wind (extremes) in short period of time.

I'm with Guppy on this one - go flying on a windy day.

IMHO sims are great for procedure and emergency training, but not necessarily for something that's perfectly normal.

Doubt they'll sell many of them in Scotland....a non-crosswind simulator would be more apt up here......:E
