I am new here and just browsing around. Trying to get the signature thing to work. To introduce myself, I am a CFI, Single Engine Land with private privileges Single Engine Sea. I own a 1956, A Model Super Cub that has been in Alaska since it's initial delivery. I am only the 5th owner of this plane which I think is remarkable. I fly this aircraft all over northern Alaska. My signature, if it shows up, is of me and the Cub on a gravel bar on the Squirrel River in northwestern Alaska where I work at a Flight Service Station. I give up, can someone tell me how to post a signature??? Until then this is what it should look like. Thanks in advance.

Love those wheels!!! You could almost float with those........Could do with a pair of those at Barton (Manchester UK), a supposedly grass airfield (but more akin to a building site in a wet winter).

Welcome Alaska pilot, I too find your tyres appealing (and kind of amusing too). Me, I'm a Cessna person myself, but ulike yourself can't afford my own aircraft. nevermind, I will try to not bend other people's tail draggers in the meantime :)

Not sure about the pic in the signature, but you can put a statement if you go into your profile and adjust it there.

Ah, your picture brings back fond memories. I visited Fort Yukon and Anaktuvuk Pass exactly a year ago. The doughnuts are not the largest I've seen tho. Can't place the Squirrel River. Where exactly is your FSS? Those interested in Alaskan aviation might like to look at these wx cams. http://akweathercams.faa.gov/ for a near realtime looksee. Fly safe - as they say. :)

I was just flying thru Anaktuvuk Pass two days ago. It is a beautiful place. I was on the north slope hunting caribou. The Squirrel River is 30 miles northeast of Kotzebue where I work. I live in North Pole near Fairbanks. When I get home tonight I will try to post a pic of the pass. I took a shot with my digital camera as I was flying down the pass towards Bettles.

The tires are 24 inch Air Streaks that allow me to land on the rocks and rough surfaces. The price is really going up on them. A new set is around $3,000 now.

Thanks for the warm welcome. It is nice to see people from other countries in here. I am a member of several car forums and most people are from the U.S. I enjoy chatting with many different people from all over the world to get the different perspectives on subjects.

I am green with envy at your location, I am here in the North West of England, its wet , soggy and totally bloody awful, not flying weather at all,I was in Lapland during Nov/Dec last year temp was -21c at 12.00midday dont you just love that cool air, I would love to be able to fly Rw through those areas that you are describing, YOU LUCKY LUCKY MAN, stay safe, land well, keep sending the pic's some day my screen might show me what you are sending!

What a great thread? Thanks for the pic. Makes the eyes water and brings a lump to my throat. I know where you are now - Kobuk way? Sounds like something to do with DEW. But you live in North Pole. That's a fair commute to work. Are you trying to imitate the Iditarod? ;)
I live in NW England, west of Liverpool, and fly an Arrow out of a rectangular patch of grass near Manchester where we all ought to re-equip with Cubs on Tundras for the winter. Also a Peter B :rolleyes:
