Hoping to go make it to Monastir, with the best part on the en-route sectors flown VFR on airways. I’d be interested to hear from anyone who’s done the same or similar.

Mr Gash - congrats on your 1st PPRuNe post! Haven't any direct experinece of this myself but I seem to recall that there was an article in Pilot mag many moons ago which talekd about touring North Africa. Maybe worthwhile getting a back copy.

In addition a visit to AIS in the LHR tower is usually very helpful and useful.

"VFR on airways" - shurly shome mishtake?

I know someone from Derby Flying club flew down that way last month (Morocco I think). I think it was done VFR. You could give them a ring to see if they would put you in touch with whoever it was. But I have not got their phone number on me.

Thank you gentlemen.

arrow2:— It’s just my first post under this identity

Tacpot:— VFR on airways is permitted in many EU states due to different classification of the airspace.

Anyway, looks like the avgas situation in both Monastir and Tunis is pretty dodgy at the moment so we may be looking at a different destination in the region if this isn’t cleared up. Any suggestions?
