Bonjour,

I am looking for some information. I will be moving to France shortly and as I am both a pilot and english teacher I thought it may be possible to combine the two into a job. :ok: I believe that all pilots must do a language proficiency test and I was wondering how one (if at all possible) would become an examiner?

J'ignore si la DGAC recrute des examinateurs, mais tu dois savoir que ce poste nécessite de parler couramment français.

En effet, il ne s'agit pas uniquement de contrôler le niveau d'anglais des pilotes mais surtout de mesurer leur aptitude à traduire du français en anglais.

Actuellement, nous sommes face à l'absurdité qu'un pilote non-francophone et parlant anglais couramment pourra passer ses licences en France mais aura beaucoup de peine à obtenir de la DGAC un niveau 6 en anglais car il ne comprendra pas questions du test qui sont en français.

Better check with DGAC directly, but in French preferably, and you would need to speak French to be working for them.
To be a teacher ,or "repetiteur " for the controllers for instance, that is relatively easy, as you can be hired as a contractor, but to become an examiner, you need to be an employed by them , which is a civil servant post of a certain grade , and for that you need to be French national ( at least it used to be like this until a couple of years ago )

And with equal absurdity, the pilot would automatically be awarded level 6 in French, even if he used English r/t in all flight tests.
