What do you expect? I can honestly say that I've never flown a Cessna PA32 that sounded right.

Putting aside the normal partially informed media reporting, these chaps had a lucky escape - if they did put sown on a sandbank then a bit of good airmmanship seems to have taken place and saved the day. Well done.

Thames Coastguard received a Mayday call at 6.32pm to reports of a light aircraft ditching into the water with between three and four people on board.

How do you have between 3 and 4 people on board;):p

BBC: It is believed the engine cut out, forcing the pilot to aim for the sea...

... as opposed to all the other alternatives.

There's a picture of the aircraft sinking in todays East Anglian Daily times. It looks like it was taken from the dinghy.

"Pilot forced to aim for the sea". Must have taken a lot of highly skilled precision flying to hit that target!

any body who learnt to fly at dundee, like me, knows what that's like

EFATO training, practice fan stop, what ever you want to call it = getting wet then...hhmmm

choice of landing in tesco's car park, and we all know they always full, or the sea/river Tay

no need to practice that, thats why the airport fire service up there got a hovercraft :D

The other recognised alternative being a tree on the 14th fairway...........

Anyone know the the coordinates for the landing ?

How did they manage to get the nose leg and if they landed on a sandbank why do you then see the plane sinking ?
can you see the plane at low tide

Well there is further good news, I won't be able to here his Cherokee Six roaring over my house in "fully fine" after take-off from Hardwick at dawn for a while!

Glad they are okay.

Surprised the SEP over water, long crossings or shortest hop discussions have not yet started!
