When hiring a plane at a new club (at home or abroad), is there normally a minimum number of flying hours that you must have logged before a club will rent you a plane? How long do the checkout's usually take. . .. .I've nowhere in mind yet, so can't ring them!! . .. .It's just out of curiosity!!

My copy of the Pilot's Bumper Fun guide to String Measurement tells me that it all depends upon experience, aptitude, aircraft type, club/instructor attitude, prices on the Hang Sen and the phases of the moon. 1-2 hrs maybe. More perhaps if the crate is something wacky. Less if you remembered to pack your Joe 90 specs.. .. .As for minimum hours, most clubs don't set a minimum for licensed pilots renting basic fixed gear, fixed prop aircraft but they may do for more complex/expensive types. Have fun taking your check book flying.

FNG; Do you know if your guide is still in print? I could use a copy for work. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />. . . . <small>[ 13 March 2002, 21:08: Message edited by: tacpot ]</small>

Normally 1-2 hours as stated previously for a single. If you want to take a twin they generally require a certain number of hours in logbook twin time (i.e.100), or so many hours dual with one of their instructors (i.e.25).
