Hi All. .. .I did my JAA PPL in a 21 Day course last year in the USA. Although I passed all the exams first time and the skill test first time, i do somehow feel my knowledge of PPL subjects such as met, RT, Navigation through UK airspace including use of RIS RAS etc. etc.. is not as great as if I had learnt in the UK. and as i do not fly as often as i would like to, knowledge dissepates with time.. .. .What i want to know is there any UK based weekend brush up courses that will go through the main parts of the syallabus to enable me to refresh my knowledge.. .Although i consider my self to be a good pilot, I agree that you can never be the best and being a pilot is a continual learning curve.. .. .Thanks in Advance

I would strongly recommend Irv Lee's one day seminars. Aussie andy and I went to one the other week and got a lot out of it. Check Irv's website for details of the next one.

That's the problem with 21 day PPLs, the knowledge is commited to short term as apposed to long term memory. I did a three week PPL also!! I found that reading the Trevor Thom Book on instrument flying helped together with the Jeppeson Private Pilot and Instrument Pilot Manuals. Always a good source of reference later too. So far as the Navigation is concerned, it is down to ground school Nav was/is the most difficult for me. I rely on VOR's and a GPS even now I'm afraid!!. . . . <small>[ 08 March 2002, 08:53: Message edited by: Sensible ]</small>

Ditto, Irv Lee's seminars!. .I did a PPL in 4 weeks in South Africa and came back knowing I had some adjustment to do, but the seminar really helped. It also helps explain some things you never learned during the PPL but which make you a better pilot. If you're based in the south try to get a check ride with him too. The seminars are all over the country though.

And another vote for the Irv Lee seminars from me. A very useful and entertaining day.. .. .The bit I thought I'd find least interesting (meteorology) I actually found the most useful because finally Irv actually explained it so that I understood what was going on.. .. .Worth every penny.
