About 1600 yesterday the roof nearly fell off as a Spitfire and one other (too low between the trees to tell but I think a Hurricane) came roaring overhead Kenley.

Fantastic do chaps, but why wasn't it publisised more? I'd have taken the Kids up to the Airfield to see it properly if I'd have known.

Ohhhh the sound of a Merlin on full chat about 300' above your head...whoops, that should of course have been 500'

My father was a war time fighter pilot stationed at Kenley (and other airfields throughout the war). I spent many happy years instructing in gliders from this venue and there were definitely times when the atmosphere of the place could make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. Anyone who honours the bravery of the war time aviators (particularly flypasts by genuine warbirds) gets my support when conducted with respect to safety.
