Has anybody done any good Meteorology Ground School courses?. .. .I noticed this link on the Met's site..... .. .http://www.met-office.gov.uk/aviation /training/index.html. .. ....and wondered how it fits in with my plans. At the moment I'm doing a PPL with a view to carrying on to an ATPL and I'm interested in getting to grips with this subject in a more thorough manner. Alternatively, can anyone recommend a decent Ground School in South East England?. .. .Cheers.. . . . [ 28 March 2002, 15:39: Message edited by: sennadog ]

Not a dedicated met course, but a useful advance on the basic training, whilst you are still in the PPL stage of your flying career: Irv Lee's PPL masterclasses. The weather section is particularly clear and helpful and, although not aimed at the commercial flyer, can add significantly to your understanding of concepts which may be left somewhat hazy at PPL level (they were with me, anyway). Lots of other good stuff as well as weather. Good luck with your continued training.

I'd agree with FNG. I had the pleasure of having a pint with Irv Lee a few weeks ago, and he did a great job of explaining some Met that was confusing me. The seminar looks good - I can't make his next one down south, but I'm planning on one after that. Irv also writes Flyer's Weather Watch articles, which are a good read (although the website only seems to have the first ten or so up).
