Hi all,

I have been trying to glean some info on the vague possibility (as I fear it would cost more than the a/c value?!) of flying a GA SEP type in to Schiphol...

I used to read threads of Schiphol having a GA runway allocation for lighter traffic but am unable to find any info on landing / handling fees.

If Schiphol is a no go, I have looked at Leylstad, but it seems to land there and take public transport to Amsterdam is a bit of a faff?

Any advice would be appreciated...:ok:

Try contacting KLM Jet Center - Executive Flight Handling - (http://www.jetcenter.nl/) who are a GA handling company. There is a seperate GA ramp, and GA aircraft tend to use rw 04/22 as it is adjacent to their area..
The Schipol controllers are superb so do not worry about ATC.

Expect to pay about 300 euro in landing/ATC/handing fees though for a light single to land at Schiphol. VFR flights < 5700 kg MTOW do not need slots for VFR, but if you want to go IFR, or are heavier than 5700 kg, you need to request a slot. AIP EHAM AD 2.20 refers.

A much better option, and much cheaper (though still fairly expensive) is Lelystad. From the airfield it's a 14-minute busride to Lelystad station, followed by a 40-minute train ride to Amsterdam Central Station. Total journey time is 1:15. Lelystad has a nice hard runway and plenty parking space but it's A/G only and can get very busy, particularly during weekends.

Hilversum (EHHV) is laterally closer to Amsterdam but the journey by public transport does take longer (1:25 or so). It's also a relatively hard to find, grass airfield lying within some complicated airspace, with relatively short runways and trees at both ends. But it is cheaper than Lelystad.
