Goodmorning all,

Contemplating a trip from The Netherlands to Guernsey in July.
I would prefer to do the trip VFR. Airplane is a Twin Comanche.

I noticed the Channel Islands CTR is category A airspace. Do they accept VFR flights at all? Maybe only Special VFR?
Or is the best option to go on a Z-flightplan and open IFR near CAEN VOR or perhaps ORTAC point?

Any thoughts about this?
Perhaps any suggestions for a hotel as well?

Thanks a lot.

VFR is no problem to the zone edge and then you will get a SVFR clearance into the zone. All exceptionally easy and friendly.

I can recommend the either the Old Government House (OGH), St Pierre Park and my favourite small hotel La Collinette.

You will be allocated SVFR, no need to specifically file IFR unless you choose to.

Guernesy ATC is one of the most friendly & helpful ATC's I've ever come accross.

The Fermain Hotel has lovely views and is in St Peters Port, about a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport.

The Channel Islands are well known for sea fog especially in Summer months which can occasionally linger for a few days adding to your trip !
