Yet another gem from the wonder that is the internet!
Portable Blue Laser from Wicked Lasers - Spyder III Pro Arctic Series (http://www.wickedlasers.com/lasers/Spyder_III_Pro_Arctic_Series-96-37.html)
I wonder how long it will be before some idiot uses one of these on an aircraft on finals. From the website:
Wicked Lasers radically redefines the way we see lasers yet again. For the first time in history, direct blue laser diodes have now become available in the consumer market.
Why? Who, in the consumer market, needs a 1W blue laser?
Warning: Extremely dangerous is an understatement to 1W of laser power. At close range, this Class 4 beam will cause immediate and irreversable retinal damage. Use with extreme caution and use only when wearing proper safety goggles with an O.D. of 3+ is required and 4.4+ for longer exposures. Customers will be required to completely read and agree to our Class 4 Laser Hazard Acknowledgment Form.. (http://www.wickedlasers.com/laser-tech/blue_light_hazard.html)
Perhaps we should all carry LASER safety goggles from now on. I personally have been lased on finals into Heathrow, Geneva, Glasgow, Edingburgh, Manchester, Milan etc. and the list goes on.
edited to add that I have no idea why it (pprune) keeps putting the @ sign in! :(
