I wonder if N reg operators realise that FAR 91.703(a)(5) which became effective on 2 March 2010 provides that every civil aircraft of US registry operating outside the US must:
5) For aircraft subject to ICAO Annex 16, carry on board the aircraft documents that summarize the noise operating characteristics and certifications of the aircraft that demonstrate compliance with this part and part 36 of this chapter.
Unfortunately, the FAA do not issue noise certificates but their Advisory Circular 86-91 gives helpful advice on how to make your own:

You may find that the information in this FAA AC is helpful in supporting your position for the aircraft types it lists. I go through this all the time when approving propeller changes on older aircraft.

That's a brilliant find, DLT.
I actually have a UK CAA noise cert, from back when the plane was G-reg, showing the wrong tail # but the right S/N so it should be OK. But most N-reg owners won't have anything.
Can you find instructions for creating a VAT Certificate of Free Circulation also? :) :)

Likewise, we have a French noise certificate from when it was on the French register which has satisfied bureaucrats up to now, but I don't think it's EASA compliant.

Nope, I have put loads of people onto him but he can't get them anymore...
I got mine just before the whole system shut down c. 2006.
Re noise certs, AIUI, they matter for one purpose only: a German or Swiss desk official asking to see it, otherwise they charge you another 30 euros / francs / whatever.

That surely is a good find. I nearly asked a guy in Essen, Germany the other day what he was talking about, i'd never heard of it. Word of warning in this case i've been to two German airfields in the last month and they both asked me for one.
What's a "Free Circulation Certificate"?
It is a proof that VAT was paid on a plane permanently imported into the EU.
The UK has stopped generating these; apparently in breach of EU law...
The last method of getting one closed when the 0-VAT Danish route ended in Dec 2009, thought that route was open only to very few people already flying in the EU (planes owned by VAT registered companies only, I recently discovered and wish I had known earlier!!).
Back to noise certificates - I have landed in Germany in 2009 and 2010 and was not asked to show mine. This is suprising - is it normal? The prices quoted did not indicate a discount if one was produced, either.
