View Full Version : Luton Radar - a thank you...

Hi

Just wanted to offer a big thank you to whoever was working Luton Radar yesterday evening around 6pm.

We were a C172 routing Duxford to Denham and found ourselves hemmed in by heavy showers all around us at Brookman's Park right between the Luton and Stansted zones ....with a flakey VOR box and a GPS that decided to recycle at just the wrong moment.

Made a call to Luton (first concerned we may have just clipped the far SE corner of their zone during our orbiting...), explaining our situation and very friendly voice came back immediately offering a "zone transit if we needed it". In the end, we found a gap in the showers and were able to work along the M25 into clear air the other side, but it was great to know someone had us on radar and we could have turned north and considered our options if we'd needed to.

Despite being stupidly busy, while listening squark with Stansted, we also heard them giving similar service to a GA behind us, so :ok: and I won't hear anything bad said about you guys from now on....we may no longer be able to land at these airports, but you provided a great air traffic service.

Cheers
BFA
