MANILA, Philippines — Philippine authorities say an Antonov transport aircraft has crashed while landing at an international airport north of the capital, leaving three crew members missing.
The civil aviation authority says three other crew have been pulled alive from the burning wreckage of the plane that crashed Wednesday evening at the Clark airport.

PAMPANGA, Philippines (5th UPDATE) - A cargo plane crashed Wednesday night in a village in Mexico, Pampanga, killing 3 of its passengers.
A bulletin from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the cargo plane had 6 passengers including 3 Russians, 2 Uzbekistan nationals and a Bulgarian.

Killed were Russian engineers Nikolay Bannon and Dadim Yahimov and Bulgarian national Tzvidoslav Guetchevski.

The injured survivors were Russian Tochonyy Yuriy, pilot; and Uzbekistan nationals Dmitry Strumminski, co-pilot and Ruziev Borhadir, crew.
Local authorities said the plane, with body number UP-AN216 and label Inter-Island Antonov 12, was on its way to Clark when it crashed in an open field in Barangay Laput (not Barangay San Patricio as earlier reported) shortly before 9 p.m..

The CAAP said the plane was chartered by the Pacific East Air Cargo for the United Postal Service (UPS). It came from Mactan, Cebu, authorities added.

The Clark International Airport Corp.'s control tower said they received an emergency call from the pilot around 8:48 p.m., informing them that a part of the was on fire.

Rene Lising, a villager who witnessed the plane crash, said he saw the aircraft flying very low before crashing. The impact snapped the plane into 2.

Other villagers said they heard a loud explosion from the crash site.
Senior Inspector Ronnie Barrera, Central Luzon regional fire chief, said the plane burst into flames after the explosion.

Sad for the lose of three crew members, one Bulgarian and two Russians, both pilots and a third person survived the crash.

Pilot reported the aircraft encountered electrical circuit problems and subsequently caught fire - a forced landing was attempted one hour into the flight into a rice field.

As of the freighter, the info is that there was an electrical short and fire on-board, and it was a bona fide emergency landing. The aircraft was engulfed in flames on landing, and only three crew members managed to escape (or were pulled out of fire by local villagers). The other three perished in the fire. RIP.

Narrative:
An Antonov 12BP cargo plane, registered UP-AN216, was destroyed when it crashed near the town of Mexico, Philippines. Three crew members survived, three others are presumed to have been killed in the crash.
The airplane operated on a flight on behalf of UPS from Cebu Airport (CEB) to Angeles City-Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (CRK). It crashed in a rice paddy and broke in two. The forward fuselage caught fire.
According to the Mexico town mayor the plane involved in the accident was labeled "Inter-Island Antonov 12". News reports indicated the An-12 was chartered by Pacific East Air Cargo (PEAC), but this was denied to ASN by a company spokesperson. He confirmed that the airplane had been operating for Interisland Airlines "for quite sometime already in non - scheduled commercial operations".
A bulletin from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said there were 3 Russians, 2 Uzbekistans, and 1 Bulgarian on the plane.
