Hy guys, Could anybody help me with a few questions about the B737-800?

About B737-800

What angle of Sweep does B737-800 have? why not 27 degrees instead?
What engine model does B737-800 have?
What is optimum ISA cruise altitude for 737?
What is the fuel capacity of the 737 – 800 ?
Why does the 737 have a variable incidence tail plane?

Thanks!!

Thanks PLovett!:ok: I could answer 3 of 5, but I need to answer the first and the last questions:

*What angle of swept does the NG have? &
*Why does the 737 have a variable incidence tail plane?

thanks again!

Wing sweep = 25 degrees.

hello agus,
sweep angle is all about performance compromise.
increase in sweep angle, increases Mach critical(sonic point on the wing) so allowing increased cruise Mach numbers but the downside is decreased low speed handling, so higher landing speeds\runway distances required & vice versa. so agus think about it : which aircraft(high sweep), need to fly fast & use long runways : right, long range aircraft(747) & which aircraft(smaller sweep) need to fly reasonably fast & have good low speed handling\runway performances : medium\short range aircraft(738). so it is a matter of long range vs medium\short range. 738 has 25°sweep.

variable tailplane incidence is more powerful than a trimtab on the elevator, because 1)738 has a long speed & cg range. 2) you will not run out of elevator range when making configuration changes. 3)trim drag will be reduced(saves fuel).
hope this helps,

thanks blackmail great explanation :ok:

I enjoyed reading your explanation once time and another,... I've got my licence 6 years ago and I've been flying agricultural airplanes and turboprops, so I forgot all about high performance aircrafts and Mach and all that kind of things. Nowadays I'm trying to up date me! Thanks for your answers in both posts.
