Has anybody had any experience of flying under IFR in Southern Ireland? I am planning a trip from the North West of England down to Cork. Just wanted any advice on any 'problem' areas if there are any. Thanks :)

IFR is IFR... normal IFR procedures. Eurocontrol flight plan, etc.

You need an IR.

Ive got an IR so no problems there. Just not used it out of this country yet so lacking a bit of confidence I guess.

As per IO, IFR is IFR. You file and get your route, fly it and get told what to do. Damn sight easier than VFR......

Cork seems pretty quiet to IFR traffic. Was there just recently and apart from Aer Arran and Ryanair, nothing much was moving. RT is fairly standard, some minor differences to UK but nothing really to write home about. Dublin airspace can be busy at times but nothing too major to cope with. Worth having a quick look at the RNAV SID's etc before you go too, should give you an idea of typical routings.
