Another article making sombre reading, and the summer season is only just on us.

RTÉ News: Man critical after Wicklow plane crash (http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0411/wicklow.html)

I thought the old farm strip on Powerscourt was removed about the time the golf course was laid, approx early-mid 90's, but there must have been something there - or was this a forced landing that just didn't work out?

Fly safe, LJ

EDIT:
Just after posting, I found this update; RTÉ News: Man killed in Wicklow plane crash (http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0410/wicklow.html). Sad news indeed. And if it was one of the Slazengers, it wouldn't surprise me if they still had a farm strip on the estate.

LJ - Powerscourt is still in the guides EIPT (N53:10.787 W06:12.075) 1nm SW of Enniskerry. 12/30 600nm Grass (12 is 30m higher than 30 - undulating strip severe slope down to 30)

Very sad news indeed.

Very sad news indeed. Such great weather we have been having lately too. Very sad.

Very hard to see on Google Earth exactly where the strip is, it just seems to centre on the course.

600m is tight at the best of times, with slope and an undulating surface that would demand the best of respect.

I haven't lived in that area in a decade now unfortunately. Terrible news, my thoughts are with the family. My family and I used to frequent the estate there regularly, and the original strip on the site of the Golf Club was where I had my first taste of aviation.

Latest news both occupants did not survive. Sad. I attempted landing there last Autumn, visually tricky and gave up. Michael Slazenger's Falco was fast enough on approach, apparently hit a tree on go-around.
