GA to Zurich...

SEP to Zurich, can go either VFR or IFR.

Tips, tricks and links all welcome.

If we don't fancy Kloten, what are the options with good links into the city.

I went there in 2009. Busy and not cheap but fine for GA. You queue up in between a lot of 737s :) Also a hold on the way in is not unlikely. You have an email/PM.

Kloten (LSZH) is excellent.

Handling is now compulsory, but MFGZ (http://mfgz.myschaller.ch/index.php?id=194) provides a minimal service for CHF 40. You also need an airport slot, via the GASC: Slot.gasc at unique.ch which is not coordinated by MFGZ, but is easy enough.

From the GAT, you can walk the 200 m to the bus or tram stop and get public transport into town. Alternatively you can ride 2 stops the other way to the main terminal and get a train to many destinations.

Tram no. 10 goes both to the terminal and into Zürich, 36 mins to the main station, every 8-15 mins. Timetables etc. via ZVV Home (http://www.zvv.ch/)

For 1700 kg I paid (all ex 7.6% tax):

Approach CHF 15
Passenger CHF 32
Parking CHF 8/day

Do you need to clear customs?? If you do then Kloten is your easiest option if you want to got the city. Otherwise there are 1 or 2 smaller airports close by but then it all depends on what runway distances you need....

If you are looking for alternatives to Kloten near Zürich - Leaving out the military, private and grass strip airfields leaves you with:

- Lupfig train station is 1km away (i usually walk) - train to Zürich in 45min
- or take a taxi to Brugg (~6km from AD) and catch a train there (3x per hour, 24min to Zürich)
