Can any Ezy/Thos Cook /other crew on here who are due to fly to Funchal in the next few days tell me the state of play of the Airport please>
My contacts in Funchal can't be contacted and can't find any NOTAMs though BBC says airport closed.
Any official links/urls gratefully received........
Thanks

Providing the airport is not feet deep in mud from the slopes above, that weather is actually quite nice for FNC. The weather of 19/20th seems to have been appalling, sadly with a lot of casualties.

Hello,
The airport seems to be OK, flights have been arriving and departing from late last night.
I tried to contact some relatives I have in Madeira yesterday and was unable to do so, I believe a C130 was dispatched last night with equipment to fix communications damaged by the bad weather and also rescue teams, other air force aircrafts/helicopters have been sent to Madeira as well.

Flew a full a/c into FNC the night of the 19th, just before the storms hit. Hope all are safe & well and best wishes to our fantastic Portway staff, their families & friends during the clean up operation.

Going tomorrow from MAN; TAF does't look brilliant, but not unusual.
Will post if anything to report.

Took over from a crew that flew in from FNC today. They said they didn't have any problems.
