Quick one guys and gals , which is the airfield most closely placed to london that would afford best and quickest route into the city centre for a conference . It would need to accept a PA34

You can land a PA34 at Denham and get to the city using M40.

Depends a bit on your definition of 'city center' :E It's a big place, you know!

If anywhere West End or City, then Denham is probably your best bet. Taxi to the train or tube (yes really - it's quicker that way), or if you have to arrive 'in style' (but probably late) then about 70-100 quid in a cab.

If your pockets are deep, a twin gives you the option of Northolt.

any idea what a taxi would cost from there ??? You would probably need to take out a second mortgage. You could take a taxi to the nearest Underground station (can't remember which it is) but it takes about an hour to get to Hammersmith from there - I know, I took my caravan to the Caravan Club Site across the road from Denham when I had to attend a Neonatal Massage course. Took me three hours to get back to the caravan. :{

Damyns Hall might be a squeeze, but lightly loaded possible. It's got both a tube line and a DLR if they're getting in to town on the cheap. And it's a real friendly little field.

Elstree, Denham, as mentioned, also close.

Denham. Easy in a PA34.

Taxy to Denham Green in 5 minutes, about £6. Chiltern Line into Maryleborne in 30 minutes.

Job jobbed.

I have taken a Seneca into London many times and would also recommend Denham.

You can walk it to Denham station at a push and catch the Chiltern railway into Marlybone.

Just check the train times as its a bind if you miss a train and have to wait for the next.

Elstree isnt too bad but further to the station with a slightly longer train ride.

Southend will get you into Liverpool street but the best part of an hour.

Biggin Hill is okay ish but expect an expensive taxi ride £15-£20 to Brom;ley South station for a link into the centre.

Don't forget North Weald. Nice long runway. Quick taxi to Epping and then the Central Line into London.

why not City airport?! they will take a PA34. may be a bit pricy in terms of a landing fee but by the sounds of it you dont need to worry about that.

great transport links into london which from the air looks like a 5 min walk!

Thanks again amigo's. Nah price is an issue to a degree but its the hoops to be jumped through for city airport that make it unappealling .
Ill offer the transport routes to them and let them make their minds up
thanks again

Just to correct someone above, the closest station to Denham is Denham Golf Club. Denham Green doesn't exist...

Denham Green doesn't exist..

To be fair no one said "Denham Green Station" - Denham Green does exist and there is a station there ("Denham Station").

By road Denham Station is also closer to the tower is it not?

Depending on the train times Wycombe Air Park may be a better option than Denham as a lot of trains on the Chiltern line don't stop at Denham.

So much of this question is dependant on the public transport options and the final destination within London

Lootown....got its own pricing structure as well.

Correct, by car Denham Station is closer than Denham Golf Club. Train every 30 minutes or so.
