Can anyone recommend schools or clubs to look at for a couple of hours of flying for a planned visit to Ireland next month. Will be staying in Dublin but dont mind some driving out of the City?

Hey,

All the schools in Dublin are based at Weston Airport on the west side of the city. For planes you have NFC, Flightwise and Skytrace. For helis you have Eurocopter and EHA I think.

If you don't mind a drive of about 2 hours there is Enniskillen, home to the ampibious flying club. There have a great Maule M7 on floats and right by lough erne it really is worth the drive - the area is perfect for seaplanes and would make a nice addition to the logbook. The instructor is absolutely first class :ok:

Note what skytrace says about renting:

All new renters complete a five hours dual flight instructor with our instructors

No thanks!

yeah pretty offputting. I was told same story when eager to hire post return from Floridawith newly minted PPL. However there was some hint that figure was negotiable for more experienced pilots. Never take rules like that at face value!
