Air traffic controller! (http://timesbusiness.typepad.com/money_weblog/2010/02/the-ten-highest-paying-jobs-and-the-ten-lowest.html)

Will the next move in the rankings be up or down?

I presume that "pilot" appears in the diamond-encrusted, gold version of that publication?

I presume the Bankers and MPs pay are only for the basic, and not the bonus plus expenses. Can't see my taxable LVs making a lot of difference.
Working for Beeb seem to be missed out as well.:hmm:

I've looked at those kind of rankings more than a few times now, and as far as I can tell (after speaking with controllers), they're hard done by.

Year after year ATC appears in the top 10, but sadly I've yet to see that reality. It still goes to question who is driving these 60K cars we see - I doubt anyone would spend a years salary on it. This country must have a lot of debt...

It's a meaningless list as it only deals in averages over the whole spectrum of a particular profession, thus for instance, it doesn't even mention professional footballers and as we all know, a premiership player rakes in c£100k per WEEK!!(god knows what the lowest paid guys and gals get)

barristers , lawyers and judges? some of those not even based near london charge 100 quid an hour .they must be not giving the full salary in case they may incriminate themselves:E

Are we talking Mil or Civ? ;)

I do remember, at LATCC, some of my civvy oppos declining promotion because of the allowances they'd lose :)

On the Mil side, I took all the promotions I could get!

However - it's all an exercise in "comparative borrocks". The end-product of a teenage number-crunching researcher filling pages for his Editor.

BTW - did the "lowest paid" include the soldiers dying in 'Stan?

Just as a side note ATC is in the news here in Spain as it is now known that some controllers are on over 900,000euro's per year plus pension etc. When wage's for most people here are very low that take the P*%s in my opinion.

some controllers are on over 900,000euro's per year plus pension etcsounds like a case of sour grapes Mac.

How many hours overtime are they working to get that?Largely their employer's fault for not recruiting and training enough staff in the past so a case of market forces at work.

Inteersting nobody mentions the wunch of bankers who caused the recession yet still carry on giving themselves bonuses out of all proportion

So is a £100 k a year ATCO worth more than a £170k a WEEK footballer? For kicking a gas bag around a field and kissing men when the gas bag goes into a net!??? :suspect::suspect::suspect:

So is a £100 k a year ATCO worth more than a £170k a WEEK footballer?

ATCO @ £100k per year = £100k per year
Football player @ £170k per week = £8.84M per year

No, considerably less if my maths are right.:}

Footballers get paid according to their market value, in the same way that golfers, tennis playeys, film stars and entertainers get paid. I dont hear you complaining about them.

Nobodies pay is calculated by how much they think they are worth or by how hard they work. Ask a nurse.

I made more five years ago then I do now yet fly more. Imagine you'll find pilot wage analysis with the fish report.

... "£170k a WEEK footballer? For kicking a gas bag around a field and kissing men" ... or push tin????

...Personally, I'd kick a gas bag around every week (fcuk 40 yr. old ladies of the night- R. Wooney, Beat innocent by-standers to a pulp- G. Serrard, Defame one's colleagues to the Paps- Gwen-Soren Ericss, Sleep with team-mates wives -"Beaker" from "the Muppets" Terry and crash £250,000 ferrari's at 120mph willy nilly- Conaldo) so "at the end of the day" when I retire at 32 I'd privately fund an A.T.C. course (at the clubs expense) .... for ser-vices rendered
