Hi all...

Can anybody currently flying the 737-700/-800/-900 let me know if, on your ACP, do you still have the NORM/ALT selection switch?

I understand it's operation, but noticed on our -700IGWs the switch has been removed entirely, together with all labeling, that is, an entirely new panel without the switch.
The procedure now is to pull the appropriate (i.e. C, FO or Obs) circuit breaker on the P-18 panel, which will have the same affect!

In my entire flying career, with the possible exception of the RAWS WARNING c/b in the P3 world, using circuit breakers as switches was a no-no!

Any comments on your equipment.

Cheers...FD...:)

All our 700/800 fleet have the NORM/ALT switch.
Our newest A/C would only be 2 months old delivered from the factory.

I would say that, on the Air Con Panel on the NGs, the switch from Normal to Alternate occurs automatically. Selecting ALT simply acknowledges the change and turns off the warning light. If it's never used as a primary switch, its not necessary - and only those who have flown with it will miss it.

checkboard , he is referring to the audio control panel ACP,
not air cond panel.

all the NG acp's I have dealt with have the the alt selection. As for using an alternate to the alternate s/w , I would not hazard a guess and not contemplate trying it out.
