Evening all,
I haven't done many GPS approaches in my life but trying to read up on the procedures/regulations using the FAR-AIM. One paragraph says, literally:
If RAIM failure occurs after FAWP (Final Approach Waypoint), the receiver is allowed to continue operating without an annunciation for up to 5 minutes to allow completion of the approach (see receiver operating manual). If RAIM flag/status annunciation appears after FAWP, the missed approach should be executed immediately
I've always believed; No RAIM = No guaranteed accuracy (protection from faulty SV) .... hence the bold paragraph makes sense that MA should be executed if RAIM failure annunciation shows. But what is the first part of the paragraph about..... I don't really understand it?? Is the receiver going to "hide" the RAIM fail warning up to 5 min so you can complete the approach?? Sounds just strange...
