Hi

I have been asked by a friend what is the switch over on the Airbus during engine start up? I have never heard of this and couldn't find it in the FCOM either.

Does anyone know what this is or ever heard of it?

He might have the electric system in mind? As soon as the generator is online, a relay switches with a loud bang, sometimes accompanied with a little flicker of the lights.

Pretty much normal stuff and happens on every aircraft.

What was he asking about the switching over? When it happens? What the conditions are? What you hear or see? Ask him.

Happy asking, ;)

Nahh, that was one thing I loved about the MD-11.. The "no break, power transfer". Real easy on the avionics, that hard transfer I have seen on alot of other aircraft has got to be hard on the equipment.

Pick your Airbus - all things being equal, the 330/340s will do a no-break transfer when you're on the ground. The 320 system doesn't have that feature.

Hello,

what is the switch over on the Airbus during engine start up?

Might be the alternate operation of Ignition A and B during startups:confused:
