Is there any GPS or any technique on a GPS e.g. Garmin 495, to read the wind speed and direction on the screen while in flight? I studied the Garmin 495 user's manual but I didnot find any relative info.

There might be an E6B (i.e. wizzwheel) page.

If you enter your current heading and True airspeed it can use the GPS track and groundspeed to work out the wind direction and strength.

You can on the G430 (the integrated one) and so I assume other models running similar software. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a fudge to use it since the GPS doesn't have access to air data.

It's buried away on the 430 but if you pull up the page, supply it with your current IAS, OAT, heading, and altitude, it'll give the wind information. Clearly, only a slight drift in your airspeed or heading will result in false results so given the effort needed to get it, it's a bit of a waste of time IMHO.
