Co-pilot in the Q300 at AA today bored on appr? Was flicking the landing lights on and off one by one.:}

Been a while since been here, has see-and-be-seen whilst carrying pax hit NZ?

Because that's what some landing lights do now....they pulse on and off!

Increases visibility, and scares away the birds...apparently

Fitted to the later model 737's, and also Dash 8's

how about just fitting a klaxon horn, that would scare the birds too

Ha Haa and half of south Auckland.....seriously though, I have often wondered why we don't have a very loud horn 'cause often we can see the birds long before we get to them, especially on the roll. Can't see why it wouldn't work.

ATR tried that and hasn't been overly successful with the birds, except the odd hot one walking into terminal :}

Horn's no good, they'd never hear it over the engine noise ;).
