There were plans to certify a 2 or 4 cell aux tank system for the FOKKER 100 primarily for the corporate market. Do anybody has any info on that? Any aircraft flying with that mod?
Thanks,
b

Balaton,
I've been told by an ex Fokker guy they delivered only one aicraft fitted with fuel bladers in the fwd cargo hold.
It was a Fokker 70 destined for an african airforce, which one I cannot recall.

He also told me the aircraft was likely to run out off engine oil before it would run out off fuel, due to the amount of oil the RR-Tay consumes/leaks.

Thanks IFIX, I think to force the F100 to the corporate market is overly optimistic. (FL350 max alt, slow speed, etc.) But those Tay's are doing quite well on Gulfstream IV's anyway.

Tays burn oil? Nah. When my old company first got the 100, the Fleet Manager asked RR what checks we should do in the event of an unscheduled overnight when there was no engineering available. The RR man didn't understand the question, so the FM said "well, what about oil level checks etc" The RR man thought a while and said "well, I suppose you could check the engine is still on the pylon, that's about all you need to do." Damn good engines. Mind you Fokker and RR had a good track record; F27/Dart, F28/Spey

Damn good engines, indeed very true.
I once had to borescope an engine due to a trend shift in vibration and EGT, which were still within limits.
Turned out it had lost three HP turbine blades!

But when the oil qty indication tuns amber at -3 quarts beware, thats almost half the oil in the engine, which only hold 8 qts total.

Four long sectors and your oil level is in the red.

Other than that - excellent engines.

The Fokker with those tanks is with the Kenyan AF.

This is the only F70ER.

The oil lvl check for the Tay engines are req at every Daily/MSC.

They don't use very much oil but leaking much:-). The cowlings are always soaked in oil. But that's normal system behaviour with those RR's.
