Provosts from Ternhill practiced forced landing at Tilstock. In 1956 our low overshoots from < fifty feet were not appreciated by amorous couples lying in the long grass. :E:E:E

A few years ago, I spent a morning on a guided tour of the nearby Wixall Moss, trying to catch sight of the elusive Falco Subbuteo or Hobby Hawk. Yes, that's really how the inventor of the table soccer game arrived at a name for it (game, hobby, subbuteo).

We never did catch sight of the wretched bird, and in due course repaired to the nearest pub!

Sorry for the thread drift!

Would that be The Raven? ( Pub not bird)

The Raven? I can't remember, it was five years ago. The landlord showed a remarkable reluctance to open up to thirty odd travellers with their tongues hanging out!

That's OK, My memories date back 5 or 6 times that so are likely to be suspect.
