Hi there,

I'm just getting back into a bit of GA SEP flying, but need to know what would have to be done regarding validity of my SEP rating.

Last time I flew a SEP was on the 10/04/2003. I've flown MEP since then up until the 18/08/2006, but I'm not sure if this counts towards any kind of 'piston' validity!

Would this gap in flying require a formal renewal of the rating with another cheque for the CAA, or can it be done without a simpler way?

Thanks in advance.

You will need to do a licensing skills test with an examiner. The paperwork will go to the CAA and they will issue a new rating page with an SEP (Land) on it.

If you are in the Midlands drop me I PM and I can do it.

Last time I flew a SEP was on the 10/04/2003What you have to do is based upon the expiry date, not the date when you last flew. If it goes one day over 5 years from the expiry date, then you will have to pay the CAA for it to be reissued. Check it quick because you might just be in with a chance if it didn't expire till Dec 2004.
