A question came up the other day between me and the Captain about the Magenta Line. It showed our missed approach correctly as a straight line but we were wondering does that line carry on to infinity or stop somewhere, maybe when the FMC calculates that you will run out of fuel?
Thanks

It goes on for roughly twice as long as half its length.
Why don't you just create a new waypoint say 500nm from the far end of the runway, put it in the FMC as the last waypoint then have a look at where it ends. Have done this before myself and it does have a finite length. Not that I can remember what it is...

700 nm is the number you are looking for. Use the centre fix, generate a point 704 (or 5 or whatever the distance is from the fix to the rwy), and put that in the FMC legs page after the G/A. You can then step to this point in plan mode.
Why use the centre fix? Because you cannot generate a way point based on a RWXX point in the FMC for same reason.
It goes on for roughly twice as long as half its length.
I love that!

BOAC, love it. Far more precise than how long is a piece of string.

The missed approach track line from RW10 at DUB extends to somewhere near Prague. Just a little observation that I've made

Is it true there is a pot of gold at the end of the magenta line?
No - that is over the Rainboe
