At present I'm a TRE on the 777, I got about 13,000 hrs with about 5000 on the 777.

I'm thinking about doing my own B747-400 rating, the question is what's the chances of being hired as a Captain with zero time on type?

If anyone has any informed answers I would like to hear them.
Cheers, fly safe.

Whatever for...I would ask?
The 777 is the wave of the future, the 744 is past tense...except for freighters.
And, even there, the 777F is now online, at least a few anyway.
Unless you a rating collector, you would be wasting your money, in my opinion.

All the Chinese PIC jobs want 500 hours in type. Korean will pick you up as an F/O based on the 777 time and then you buy your own type. I heard Air India had openings eighteen months ago for DE Captains but haven't seen anything for a while. And you have to be under 45 for Korean.

Hi Puff,
It's actually 58 for KAL DEC, and if my recent experiences tell me anything, you will need at least 2000 in command on the thing to be competitive out there, and it's a very tight market to say the least. Quite a few body's with currency on type and lots of hours looking for work. Sorry it's not better news.
Cheers

I am currently looking for a way to fly and log a 777. I have over 10000 with over 6000 PIC on a 737 type aircraft. I am tired of the 3-5 legs a day and am looking for a way out. I have the 777 type but no time. Anyone know how I can get some time in a 777, ferry or the like job just to log some time and make the type useful.
Any constructive response is welcome.
